Houston 2016 Quilt Market Review

Hi everyone!

As many of you know, we were in Houston, TX this past weekend to attend the International Quilt Market. For those of you that couldn’t quite make it there, we’re happy to show you a little bit of our experience in this post. You can click on the link for more images of the new fabrics we discuss below. We’d love to hear your thoughts about these new collections in the comments below!

NEW Supplier! Bambini Fabrics

We’re very excited to announce a new fabric supplier! Inspired by their popular Bambini books, this new fabric line is super cute and aimed towards newborns. You can find out more by visiting their website. We love the soft modern colour palettes from their boy and girl collections:

The World of Susybee

We saw some wonderful samples of finished Susybee projects during our visit at Quilt Market. What was great about these finished projects are the incredible details that were added to the already quite detailed panels. Take a look at the Leif, the Caterpillar panel with it’s intricate details:

And here’s the Lal, the Lamb panel transformed into a gorgeous pillow!

We’re also very excited to announce a brand new line from the creator of Susybee, Susannah Bee. This line is based on Susannah’s art prints. Here’s a sneak peek:

Riley Blake Designs

As always, Riley Blake’s booth was a feast for the eyes and attracted lots of attention! Their designers also shined throughout the market with their respective booths.

We loved the bright “pixel” style quilts hanging around their booth. Apparently this strawberry quilt took a whooping 1,700 individual pieces to make! It was designed by Amanda Herring using her newest collection Into the Garden

We also loved the super modern collection On Trend by My Mind’s Eye, which will be amazing for all sorts of sewing projects including this quirky home decor idea!

Penny Rose Fabrics

One of the highlights from Penny Rose Fabrics was the gorgeous setup by fabric designer Jill Finley showcasing her collection Coming Up Roses shipping this Spring!

With all the hype around their Anne of Green Gables collection, Penny Rose also announced a follow up Christmas collection! Canadian literature lovers, rejoice! Here’s a quick look at their current collection, shipping now:

Quilting Treasures

The Quilting Treasures booth featured some eye-catching quilts from their newest groups. We particularly loved the “A Golden Holiday” quilt designed by Laurie Cook from her collection of the same name. This will no doubt be very popular for Christmas 2017 with its sophisticated black, brown and golden with metallic accents colour palette! Shipping mid-May 2017.
Another fun project was the colourful spin on the classic pinwheel quilt made with “Bleecker Street“! Featuring small bright floral patterns, this collection will be great for quilting and sewing alike, as you can see below. This collection will be shipping mid-March 2017.

How can we not talk about Janet Wecker Frisch’s latest collection “Queen of We’en“? As always, she created a gorgeous vintage inspired group that is just fabulous and very versatile! The display – with the various wall hangings, tuffets and cushions – was a standout! This collection will also be shipping mid-March 2017.

Ink & Arrow Fabric

What can we say more than their slogan “because fabric should be fun”? Their new collections are definitely fun and cheeky! Check out their new Christmas collection “Mingle & Jingle” which features really modern holiday colours and adorable little drawings! Shipping mid-May 2017.We also loved the new “Gnome Matter What” collection… not only for it’s funny name! Adorable little gnomes and other garden creatures make up this pastel purple, coral, green and cream fabric group! An adorable fabric for gardeners of all ages!
